24 March 1916 - the first raid on the Gaelic Pres , supposedly for producing a paper called The Gael which became victim of a London Times article calling it a highly seditious paper which named the Gaelic Press as the producer, thus setting it up for official attention. The Countess was severely critical of the raid in an article she headed "Ireland's Press Arm" in the Spark of the same period.
Joe wrote to George Bernard Shaw to enquire if a book of his found on the premises Three Plays for Puritans, contained seditious material and Shaw replied in similar humorous fashion.
